The Old Corn Mill

The picturesque town of Kirkcudbright is situated on the River Dee and is surrounded by many unspoilt beaches and close to the Galloway Hills.

Kirkcudbright is celebrated as the Artists' Town due to its extreme popularity to artists from all over Scotland because of the clarity and quality of the light. At its heyday between 1850 and 1950, this legacy continues with galleries, exhibitions and working craftsmen and artists thriving in the area. The cornmill itself was, for the last 60 years, a studio pottery set up in 1947 by Tommy Lochhead, the first post-war studio potter in Scotland.
